Unlike Windows Search, which displays matching files and folders based on a user's input, Everything displays all files and folders initially, and filters them based on the user's input. The name Everything comes from the program's display of data. The author states that indexing of a fresh Windows 10 installation takes about 1 second to complete. The initial indexing is very fast, and should complete in less than a minute if a lot of files are on the system.
